Raja Speach in Kuwait

  For most Raja songs, he writes the pallavi. Rest filled by lyrics writer. One of the reasons why Vairmuthu had difference of opinion with Raja.

  Let me reproduce the write-up I made for ilaiyaraaja@yahoogroups.com sometime back ...
  
  I think, Raja came here as a courtesy visit for
  his friend / Kavingar / writer, Mr. Ponnadiyaan.
  He has written Lyrics for Tamil songs also.
  One of his (Ponnadi, called by his co-writers
  and friends) song I like from his songs is,
  
  Kuyilukkoru Niram Irukku
  athan kuralukkoru niram irukkaa ?
  
  Many of Tamils including me, were surprised
  when we heard about his visit to Kuwait.
  I even proposed, to have a video session of
  Raja's Back Ground Music (BGM). The idea was,
  to keep most of his popular BGM's from various
  movies and play as non stop video show on the
  stage (for 45 mins. to one hour). But the idea
  was changed to non-stop hit songs by the orchestra.
  
  This program was organised by a group called
  "FrontLiners", all the members are Tamils, so
  they get Tamil perosnailities evrey year.
  
  Few of them are B.H.Abdul Hameed (paattukku paattu),
  Visu (Arattai Arangam), K.Balachander, Sarath kumar
  in the previous years.
  
  Raja mentioned about Frontlines in his speech
  as "inge medaiyil irunthu paarththaa, neenga
  frontliners. ungalukku naanga frontliners. Aanaa
  naanga isai amaikkurathu sinimaavula (he pointed
  his finger to the back side of the stage,
  conveying as pinnani issai)"
  
  For this program, along with Raja & Ponnadiyaan,
  Lena Thamilvaanan & Mayil samy (Sun TV Comedy time)
  also came. Raja's 3 books were released in the program
  (I guess these books were already released in India).
  Mayil Samy was the thokuppaalar for the last section
  of that program, which was local orchestra. He did
  very well with his style of Mimicry.
  
  The sad thing is, he didn't do anything other than the
  speech. But the good thing is, he was here & very
  close to us & able to meet him.

  Mr. Palanikumar, You have done a great job of putting Illayaraja's speech in the net and made it available to everybody. In fact, I was not at all aware of this fact, I just casually happened to go through the tfm page and as I was browsing , I saw this title "Illayaraja's speech in Kuwait". I downloaded the speech and was really delighted to hear the speech once again online.
  I appreciate the work done by you.
