BGM abilities of AR Rahman

ARR is phenomenal when it comes to songs... But is he equally good in BGM of his movies...? and why does sabesh-murali (deva's brothers) assist him???

My personal favorite bits are...

1. flute bit in Jodi
2. Title Sax in KKKK
3. Veena bit in Alai payuthey

His work in rhythm and duet are equally impressive... but what about the rest of the long list of movies? your responses plz :-)

  ARR has a lot of room for improvement in BGM. In my opinion AE had some good BGM.
  
  Since he is working for Hollywood and Chinese films (where you won't have songs but BGM), I am sure he is working hard on this aspect and will come up in great colors.
  
  He's such a talented guy who is being pressurized by our producers. Obviously he is forced to give some heavy music in BGM (you can't blame him ... stories come that way nowadays).
  
  Also, I guess Alaipayuthe had good BGM.

  Now I seem to get Sudalai's problem. He has seen only 1 movie by ARR - "Vandicholai chinnaraasu". Man there are other movies by ARR. I don't want to list them out as I am pretty sure all the guys here (except you) know that and they would feel bored if I repeat it.

  Listen to Legend of Bhagat Singh, Lagaan, Warriors of Heaven and Earth and KM and you will understand the BGM of ARR.
