Guys,
without pessisimistic thinking lets discuss about which song of IR is inspired and drawn from which song of AR....since music has no bar surely IR too might have composed taking some AR's song as inspiration...
Ex1: In Chandralekha (of vijay)..the second interlude has clear shades of chandralekha of thiruda thiruda(even instrument is same).
2) again vijay's song 'Nilavu paattu nilavu paatu' is inspired clearly form 'yaaro sunro jara ' of rangeela
3)starting music of song 'thendral vandhu ' form friends(again vijay)has similar approach as in rajni's song from padayappa which is 'oho o oho...'!!
Don't just say NO..No..No !!I too am very big IR fan but we should be fair !!

kiran: That is too much call others as pesimistic fools. I agree with you that they have to understand why you started this thread. I am a great of Ilayaraja too. Every time i call India, i talk more about ilayaraja and my christian faith to my brothers and friends more than anything else. No one can deny the fact that ilayaraja's recording style lately. Songs such as Oliyile (Alazhi) and thalatum kaatre (Devan) are very few examples that has a great recording quality similar to ARR's songs.

There is nothing in scoring music that sound similar to a already scored piece. In fact sometimes it is impossible to refrain from doing so. Even if you refrain from hearing any contemprory music (ARR claims or claimed to do it), it possible that both had been inspired or by coincidence score a piece that is exactly same as one scored by someone before.

You are right Jeeva. Have you ever noticed that all "Kaasi" songs are very similar to ARR's "Indira" songs. I wonder why at least people talked about kaasi. Its much better to copy somebody rather than recycle your own craps.

I am the one who beleives IR is No 1 in the world...but ...but...how can u say simply that he getting inspired by few AR's compositions is completely impossible....say for example ...if vikram is highly successful and has very inspiring style of acting ...sometimes even top heros like rajni or kamal might get inspired and might want to try vikram's approach atleast a little...its common psychology ...what do u say pals ?? Since Music is not just a patented thing atleast not in India, Anybody could plagiarize it, and the authenticity is key to everything. Ok what if somebody is inspired or not inspired, as long as you feel the person in it, it is OK. I just think of the sentence "Gurukku minjiya sishyan", though, the GURU here Mr Raja the gr8 is churning out really good numbers (may be not hit numbers). He could get inspired from other musicians, coz btw Music is a Ocean, and Mr Raja could create his own from looking at another persons inspiration. That is calling for a Genius, you should salute that and not get bogged down by Ego and strong-headedness which is causes only downfall.
