Has the quality of Dance improved over the years in song picturisation

We all know that good dance is a very essential component in song picturisation. And if there is one aspect of TFM(picturisation) that has undergone tremendous change(for the better) over the years it is DANCE(IMHO).
Gone are the days when heroes and heroines who didn't even know how to dance could get away with it.
Nowadays an actor must be able to dance reasonably well to be accepted.So has the quality of dance really improved down the years? (We shall leave classical dance out of this discussion).
What are your opinions?
