Ilayaraja, the magnanimous name ,every other music lover of this century and in the future will know and remember.I inaugurate this thread to share our views about his great work to make the world to look into South Indian Movies.There was a time that people were interested to listen to hindi music, where everyone had a question infront whether we r going to acheive the quality of that kind.There came our isaignani to say "Here is the music that everyone loves" and delivered to the whole world.After his entry our culture(south indian) is exhibited to the whole world in an effecient manner which was lacked with all the other music directors.Manvaasani,intha mannin kaathal,intha mannin veeram,intha mannin pulamai endru ivan ivvulaghukku alli koduthathai neanivu kooruvom.When the whole world was talking about westernizing our music this Man made the western people to listen to our carnatic music.This great man helped lot of talented directors to deliver their thirst over our culture and made the movies look like evergreen.I personally request the admin to keep this thread open as a research thread to talk and share about that great man Ilayaraja who is making our south indian film industry to be proudly standing in front of the world.

  Illayaraja gave his most sensational melodies more in Telugu than in Tamil and other languages.Just hear to his latest album Ninnu choodaka Nenu Lenu...Sensational stuff..I am getting berserk with his melodies in that movie

  If u ask me...ARR did more achivement than any of the md's ....why????
  
  1.He is famouse in both Tamil & Hindi
  2.Both side of his album will be hit
  3.Got padamashree award at a very young stage of industry
  4.Give allloooot of chances to new singers,and now they r famouse..here are some to name:Hariharan(in tfm)srinivas(became famouse)Karthik-chinmayi-madhumita(in KM)-devan,KK,Vasundra dass,sujata (became famouse) ETC ETC
  5.His music was sooo new in 1992,when i hear it now,i cant belive it was released in 1992..sooo fresh..
  6.He is now INDIA's no 1 MD eventhouhg no HITS in Tamil currently (im not saying wont ;) )

  Teaching is not an easy job.
  
  Teaching people who don't know is easy but teaching people who don't know but think they know, is tough. HCIRFs fall in this category. Why should I teach them, when I am not even paid for it? :)

  I think you are a empty vessel (making more noise). You have not come with one logical reason, man we are not asking you to teach something, we are civilised people who want to hear your point of view as well. If its logical everyone is going to agree. So why are you ducking when we ask for reasons ... I think you better need to change your name to "vaathu"yaar

  One more for all,
  
  I dont think not many in the world knows tamil as a language let alone tamil cinema. I am in UK and some know about Bollywood when it comes to Indian Cinema and UK is supposed to have alot of Indian connection than most part of the world except for some Asian countries, of course.
  
  If we think about making "sensible" movies "our" way, everyone will look into our movies (not that bollywood makes sensible movies, its just that many documentaries and articles wrongly portray bollywood as the only movie industry in India). I dont find Shankar as mentioned previously as someone who makes "sensible" movies (if you want to watch Mudhalvan, Jeans and Gentleman kind of movies, they will not be even considered a good movie even to other parts of India let alone, other parts of the world. A shankar movie w/o songs (or you can say ARR and some adult stuff), is unwatchable). Kamal and Maniratnam make some good ones (Anbe sivam was a good example though its inspired from a english movie). I dont think we support good movies and some creative music (IR and ARR made us listen to decent standards and they have given some crap too).
  Balu Mahendra, Mahendran and sometimes Balachander (though sometimes its a over dramatic, but thats whats our cinema has been) have made some movies with logic. I can show some of those movies and play some of those music to my friends down here and be proud of it. The problem is these things are few and far apart. And someone said ARR got a padmashree (though ARR deserve it, it cannot be a yardstick, Sivaji didnt get it, doesnt mean he is hopeless).
  
  Not many think about Classical music, though its one of many things which India can be proud of and its world class. Instead of blowing our own trumpet for bad things, we need to better think about recognising good stuff without any favoritism. I think we need to rethink, listen, watch and appreciate good stuff.
  
  (This is not because I am abroad ... there are some bad movies, bad music and bad politicians here too ... Thing is that they are at acceptable levels, so ppl out here can be proud of what they do).
