Alka Yagnik is a good singer with a melodious voice, can TFM try her?

Alka Yagnik is a good singer who has been singing in Hindi, Bengali and Marathi films from the late 1980's. She has a sweet and a melodious voice and has sung a minimum of 40 songs for A R Rahman in Hindi (solo and duets).

Some of the songs she has sung for A R Rahman are:

Taal se Taal... from Taal
Oh Rey Chhori... from Lagaan
Maahive... from The Legend of Bhagat Singh

Aaj Mein Gavoon... from Little John for Praveen Mani (the one Sujatha sang in Tamil. (Just listed out A R Rahman and Praveen Mani, so that south indians identify with the songs, that's all).

And many many more...

She has sung atleast 800 songs in her career so far and is the favourite of many music directors in Bollywood and has a lot of fans all over. If you listen to a sweet melodious Hindi female voice, most of the time it must be singer Alka Yagnik. But somehow she has not sung a single Tamil, Telugu song or in any south indian language, for reasons best known to her.

Can we discuss if she can be used by our Tamil music directors; like they have tried Sadhana Sargam, Kavitha Poudwal, Latha Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Anuradha Poudwal? I feel she must have been given offers in the south, but she must be refusing them.

For the heavens sake, people who are decent and have heard Alka-ji's voice take part in this thread and discuss. NO filthy remarks. By making indecent remarks you are insulting a great singer (whoever it may be..). These people are who have such a talent which we don't posses. So healthy comments please.

  Pronunciation is the key for any singer. As long as they pronounce tamizh as tamizh I am fine with it. Of all the HFM singers, Sadhana sargam is the only one that impressed me with good (not best) tamizh pronunciation. (I don't want to bring in Kavitha K here for obvious reasons). Be it "Zha" or "Lla" or "ra" or "Rra" (vallinam or idayinam) I find SS comparatively better. (this is the max I can try to get tamizh letters written in english.. I guess you can make out) Also it is not just the above letters but some words as a whole like gnyabagam (remembrance) etc... The worst is defintely Udit Narayan (I blame ARR for that for introducing with a comment that he has a youthful voice).
  
  Another point I would like to put forth is we cannot blame the singers. It is the MD that is to be blamed for using these singers. Those who cannot pronounce tamizh better do not mind people who kill tamizh. I have personally come across so many people that can't pronounce tamizh better, being a tamizhan. Good example is our captain Vijaykant. Here is what he says in almost all of his public meetings/gatherings....
  "Veelvadhu naamayinum vaalvadhu tamilagattum" Which should be "Veezhvadhu naamayinum Vaazhvadhu Tamizhagattum". He (captain) said once that he doesn't need to talk in english as it is not his mother tongue. Then better talk your mother tongue in a proper manner.
  
  Another interesting point here is, I feel, about 80 - 90% of all popular tamizh singers' mother tongue is not tamizh. Eg.. P.B.Srinivas, TMS, SPB, P.Suseela, SJ, KSC, Mano....... but their tamizh pronunciation is close to the best or the best in most cases. I heard SPB saying in a TV interview (about 8-10 yrs back) that he still (then) writes down the tamizh lyrics in telugu for better pronunciation. Interesting isn't it!

  Alka Yagnik is the daughter of Shubha Yagnik (pronounced Yaaj – nik in actuality) who is a trained classical singer who could not move ahead professionally due to a throat problem. They are Gujaratis who were based in Calcutta, and it was Alka’s mother’s wish that her daughter reach where she could not. Alka too had a flair for music, and would need a radio to help her sleep from the age of five or so. Alka thus underwent rigorous music training from a very early age under a series of teachers. At the age of eight, Alka was already an All India Radio artiste in Calcutta. She won a Sugam Sangeet competition in Calcutta at the age of 11.
  Struggle And Rise
  Alka’s mother brought her to Mumbai to try her luck in films as a child – singer. Music directors Kalyanji and Anandji did take her under their wing but advised them to wait till her voice matured and try for a career only as an adult singer, as Alka was just ten then. On a subsequent visit, she got a letter of introduction to Raj Kapoor from his Calcutta distributor. Raj heard the girl and sent her with a letter to Laxmikant. Impressed, Laxmikant gave her two alternatives – an immediate start as a dubbing artist, or a later break as a full – fledged singer. The Yagniks settled for the latter.
  It was in early 1979 that Alka got to sing a few lines in Rajshri’s Payal Ki Jhankar. Her first full – fledged song was ‘Hum Tum Rahenge’ for Rajesh Roshan in Hamari Bahu Alka, a Basu Chatterjee comedy, and was a duet with Amit Kumar. However the film was delayed and her first release proved to be the super – hit ‘Mere Angne mein’, the folk song adopted by Kalyanji – Anandji in Laawaris (1981). Filmlore has it that Alka was told to sing the song Bachchan had already recorded as a lark, imagining that she was singing it for Rakhee. After she did, Kalyanji – Anandji congratulated her on recording her first song for them! Around this time, Alka recorded her first song for Laxmikant – Pyarelal too, ‘Jaldi Se Aa’, in Jeevan Dhara (1982) with Anuradha Paudwal and Kavita Krishnamurty. She also recorded songs for Rajesh Roshan in Sannata and Kaamchor (the hit ‘Tumse Badhkar Duniya Mein’ with Kishore Kumar), Usha Khanna (Hotel and other films), R. D. Burman (Namkeen) and many more songs for Kalyanji – Anandji (Itni Si Baat, Yeh Rishta Na Toote, Khush Naseeb, Taqdeer, Nastik) and Laxmikant – Pyarelal (Badle Ki Aag, Teri Maang Sitaron Se Bhar Doon, Coolie.
  All through the 80’s, Alka did keep singing regularly in films for most of the top music directors and also past – their – peak veterans like Shankar, Ravi, Chitragupta and newcomers like Anu Malik and Anand Milind. But hits eluded her even as she sang for films like Loha, Mera Jawaab, Pighalta Aasman, Ghar Dwar and others. It was in 1988 that she got her breakthrough with the song that was to launch Madhuri Dixit and rank among the greatest and most evergreen cult songs – ‘Ek Do Teen Char’ (Current Status

  I also surprised to know that y Tamil music directors have not tried alka yagnik when other lot have sung. It is quite interesting to know the reason..someone please put some light on this.
