I am starting this thread just out of curiosity, curiosity to note instances where a song/interlude music created by a particular MD might have influenced another MD. This is not to criticize any MD in particular. I shall start off with a few observations.
Unnaithaan Naan ariven in vaazhkai padagu was based on "Pyaar kiya tho darna kya" from Mughal-E-azaam.
IRs "Naan pesa vanthen" by SPB and Janaki has its origin in an interlude music scored by SDBurman (IRs manaseeka Guru) in the song "Badi Sooni Soonu Hai " sung by Kishore Kumar, in fact it is a straight lift (only the Pallavi).
MSVs Poomalayil Ore malligai song (Only the Pallavi) was lifted from Naushad's flute piece in the interlude of the song "Thoo mera chaand main theri chaandni"

Wish we were doing this across languages! Then I could have said things like :
The song dhak dhak karnE lagaa from the film Beta was infulenced by an IR song from the telugu film JagadEka vIrudu atilOka sundari(in fact it was a karokE!)
The song kOyalsi tEri bOli from the same film was influenced by shankar-ganesh's koNda sEval kUvum nEram from en raasaavin manasula(in fact the whole of the film Beta was a lift from this movie!)
The great Anu Malik's tu tu tu tutu taaraa was influenced by IR's raakammaa kayya thattu
The song hello hello bOlkE was influenced by Deva's akilaa akilaa which by itself was the lift of the century because it was lifted from a 70s tune, Bob Dylan's Buffalo Soldier
etc., etc., etc.!!
But since this is strictly a TFM discussion ...
