The only difference between India’s two best music directors A R Rahman and Ilayaraja is their brand of music. Otherwise, both are intensely private individuals who don’t like public attention.
They also shunned music tours for some time. First, Rahman fell for it. And Ilayaraja is. Rahman enthralled Tamil music lovers all around the world with his musical tour around the world last year. Now Ilayaraja too would be going on a world tour and performing live in front of audiences early next year.
Asked about his proposed world tour, Illayaraja says, "after almost a decade I would go back on stage to perform live. I was against live-shows since I felt it takes much time. I always thought I could use the time to compose a song".
"But, when Raj, CEO, Dreammakers, Dubai, wanted to take me to different countries in the world where Tamils lived, I agreed, since it would be an opportunity for my fans to come, meet and interact with me".
"I accepted this tour on a condition that proceeds from the concert would go to orphanages, old-age homes and schools for the blind and deaf'.
Asked about his musical symphony on Thiruvasagam, Illayaraja says 'the work is still on. It would be over by November and be released in a grand manner'.
Come February, Illayaraja would perform six concerts in Chennai, Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia, USA and the UK with a 115-member orchestra besides leading playback singers from Tamilnadu.

Whats great about IR composing on stage? Even ARR can do that. For proof of that, plzz send Pravinmani/Ranjit Barot/Sivakumar/HJ to the same stage :-)

hello,explain Oh Bosnia in tha year 1996,in a malaysia concert,no one but ARR was on stage that time,he composed the song in just a min,not even ur tata was there:P

If Pravinmani and others were behind ARR.. why cant they perform now.....
It is all rubbish to say that Pravin mani was behind ARR success..
Then does it mean that ARR was behind the success of Punnagai mannan????

pls chenge the header.correction why IR follow rahman's footsteps.Since IR has his own way why he must follow his footsteps.Rahman himself from IR's footsteps.Remember IR is already said that music his soul and not for money or credit.If IR needs money he need not wait till this time.IR will not compose or produce music for the sake of pocket collection.He is sincerely doing his job.Pls dont ever ever compare him with other musician.IR is composer and not musician.IR is breastmilk except others who are powder milk.

Every school in TN have one teacher who comes up with the changes to English grammer that needs Oxford's attention. Unlike UK, in US you don't need grammer to communicate as long as they understand what you are trying to say.

It has been confirmed by Cinesouth that IR is a big cheat. He does not have money for his Symphony so he has trying to collect money in the name of charity. He would donate only a portion of money to charity and the rest in his pocket for Symphony. We could not have a expected a cheap IR
