ILAYARAJA - TIRED OR RETIRED ?

Oflate, Maestro Ilayarajas statement in public has made one feel that he is tired and trying to keep off from the film music. Problably he is a composer who deserves a better platform in devotional and western classical music.

His speech in the Pondy university and the Kumudam interview has sounded his frustration in working for tfm, as Appalam and Pickles.

He is all the time talking about Thiruvannamalai and conspicously missing in the last yatra of Visiri Samiyar, which is surprising. His refusal to participate in public functions of importance, even if it is a function organised for senior musicians makes one feel that he is in a different state, which makes one wonder whether he is confused, or planning a complete dedication with Kanchi mutt for music in 100 acres institute for hinduism, with a quiet retired life.

  But Jambu, in the same kumudam interview he had mentioned that, till now tfm hasn't seen the real music of IR. Maybe, IR is looking for a big bang !

  Whether he is tired or not, we are starting to get tired. Why does he use KB Sundarambal voice Kovai Kamala for KaanaKarunguyile in Sethu. It could have been done better with Malgudi Shuba. He uses folk Pushpavanam kuppusamy for Unna naan Katti kolla, which could have been done well with regular light voices. He uses SPB, Yesudas and light voices for heavy and folk songs. Signs of Bad perverted taste!

  Because Kaanakarunguyile was picturised on Jothilakshmi, not Alphonsa! Get a life, buddy!
  
  Dont' juxtapose your IR-centric frustration to mouth sweeping judgements in the name of 'most of TFM'...

  Jothilakshmi is not a Gnanapazham or Avvaiyaar for KB sundarambals voice to be used. Dont try this point out with a devotional singers voice.
  
  I can understand still_fresh being worried and tethered when true facts are posted. IR is definitely tired and surely requires a lot of rest in his retirement. Sanity,- of course it is upto still_fresh to recommend his psychiatrist, as per the way he has posted.

  Why Malgudi shubha should sing for joytilakshmi? Is shubha some kind of cheap women and kovai kamala is some goddess? why do you guys try to stereo type?. Now who is pervert?. For KPS, joytilakshmi, Malgudi shubha, kovai kamala all appear equal women. Just because they got in to some stereotypes doesnt mean they cant be associated with each other.
  
  Whom did ARR choose to sing for jothilakshmi in Muthu, did he go to some red light area to get a voice for her? After all Sethu song had good lyrics, good music .. what more?
  
  What about LR easwari, didnt see sing different types of songs equaly good? Every body is plain humans.
  
  If pushpavanam is not used some keep complaining. If he is used others complain!. What about the MDs who steal his songs?.

  if malga(u)di shuba is asked to sing Ghanakarunguyilae of sethu then we will have another set of people who will say IR has not given chance for a green tamizh voice like kovai kamala. See, even SAR has made deepan chakravarthy to sing a song, see his "tamizh bakthi", on the other hand u have this IR and ARR not giving chance to green tamizh voices.
  
  bashers...always bashers...mmm indha top MD galin pozhapputhaan naarudhu. thank god MSV and his predecessors haven't faced such bad treatment even though they also promoted more non-green tamizh voice.
  
  we tend to forget something sometimes. its not just MD's wish/bias alone towards a singer to make him/her to sing. Lots of human and musical factors that also force him(MD) to choose a voice. Ofcourse another point is that money and/or time. If a MD, say IR/ARR sings a song, apart from another factors they have this money factor; they may want to save some money. Also there might be time span limitation; calling a singer have him rehersed and then record the song might take more time than the MD himself sing the song (IMHO).

  Yes. No Vairamuthu for writing good lyrics, No Gangai amaran to promote and buildup Jalras, No voices like (? green) Deepan to sing and reproduce on Gangais Kacheris. Only sons around. For the current status of affairs, after rearing this industry with such songs which reflects badly on tamil culture, he better retires for good.

  oh! should IR retire just because of ghanakarunguyilae kind of song then he should have done long back during the orampo orampo periods. and we have a great culture and heritage preservation done by the ghanaas like kothaval chaavadi lady nee koyambaedu vadi...

  His songs are golden things for villagers like us.You don't know that's inner beauty...nativity & soil characters.
