Bit songs in TFM

Bit songs! Why would any composer want to include bit songs in tamil films when he is already composing 6-7 full songs?

But there are some really good bit songs in TFM, which tend to make you long for a longer, fuller version. One song that comes to my mind immediately is the song 'vaarango vaarango' from Senthoora Poove. I really wonder why this was a bit song and not a full song!

And of course the bit songs (gaana, to be more technical!) in Thalaivaasal created a new genre!

I cannot recall any memorable bit songs by IR, could anybody help?

  Another recent famous bit song would be 'ore nyabagam' sung by Clinton (or was it devan?) in Minnale. In remember Sudha Ragunathan in some interview saying that she wished it was a full song!

  2. "Mundhi Mundhi" from Veera
  3. "Pani Vizhum Pozhudhinil" from Raja Paarvai

  i also remember this composition of IR in mahanadhi ..i dunno if it was a full song ..the ones sung on the various rivers..particularly the one in bengali about the ganges.. was really moving..

  I think 'Paartha vizhi paartha badi...' from Guna and 'Yamunai aatrile..' from Dalapathy are short but memorable songs. Not sure if they could be classified under bit songs

  There is also a bit in "Thiruda Thiruda"...where in the beginning the exploits of the village thieves are highlighted by a chorus mouthing a rhyme "Thiruda Thiruda"

  Sabesan, the houseful song starts something like this enguruvum panburuvam aana guruvae gnaana guruvae ummudaya thirvadigaL charanam its penned by IR, i think.

  Now how does one define a bit song. IMHO, it could probably be a song where only a pallavi is sung and there is no backing anupallavi or charanam.
  
  In that case I think 'thenpaandi cheemayile' from Nayagan is one of the best and most remembered!

  P.S: bit song in kaathalan... the 'kolaiyile thennai vaithu kuruthola petti senchi...' and 'kaatru thuthikaiyiley...' could have been a full song... but then again, if it went full the song might have gotten spoiled, and most of us wont like em... the bit ones make us want more of that song.. and we knowwwwwww, its not gonna happen
