Copycats?

Why does some songs from Dum (Tamil) sound very similar to songs from Idiot (Telugu)????

Why would an indian music director never admit, that he is covering songs from others?

In Dum the MD is Deva, but in Idiot the songs are written by Chakri!

I can remember, that there was huge uproar when Truth Hurts sampled Lata Mageshkars voice, the Md from the original Bappi Lahiri even went to court!
He said it would have been okay, if they just mentioned, who composed the sample!

But in the indian Film soundtrack scene the Md are using tunes from all over the world! If you listen to the tamil soundtracks from the last year, I'm pretty sure that in every second or third album , you will find a song which music is covered, without even mentioning the original, you could at least write inspired by...
They are sampling the music from arabian hits (chandralekha (Malayalam) by vidyasagar), europop music(dhool), hip hop(5 Stars)

Why is this so????

Are all indian MD not creative enough? Or do you have to be a "thief" to become a succesful MD?

  You see ARR's copy from the begenning roja to till now. How many movies and songs he did and how many he made on his own(we don't know where from he copied).Very very few song that he may have copied from somewhere we don't know.
  
  He always copies international tunes.
  
  Because he is international composer.
  
  As you said IR copies from indian music there should have arised number of MD's during that time.Why only IR could do that.

  If you can name one hindi MD who has the capacity and speed of IR in giving tunes only then can you say something about him copying.

  There is none, IMO. Perhaps only R D Burman might come close to IR in quanitity but RDB has plagiarized a bit too much. Nonetheless almost all Hindi MDs till the 70s were geniuses and have created the golden era of HFM. But none of them were as prolific as IR or as speedy as he was.

  I am not anti-IR. I personally subscribe to the view that IR is India's greatest MD. I oppose the way ARR or other MDs are trashed and labelled copycat. And also, pointing out that IR has copied 2-3 tunes is not the same as trashing IR or labelling him inferior. Furthermore, for IR to be the greatest, everyone else doesn't really suck. IR was the best but amongst other geniuses.

  before you say ARR has copied from the time of roja till now, please try to justify your statements with some proof. you are just making statements.... why dont you try and give me the name of the songs from which ARR copied tunes for.... eg: roja... but look at the previous post where you can see that IR has actually copied the tune itself from the songs. i will be waiting for your reply and please dont try to change the topic ... we are talking abt the lack of any evidence for ur statements

  Obviously a lot of poeple disagree with me, in the question, if you copy songs without mention the name of the original composer, that you disrespect the original composer!

  k guys...arr (the best md in India)copies eng songs..so that indirectly shows that ENG songs the direction for indian music,so why not go for eng music,since its the SOURCE of all songs in indian music...so wut im saying is,if arr copies eng tunes (as u said),that means INDIA (Land of music) is just Kalluku thoosi for AMerica songs!hmm...so INDIA is nothing good for the world???

  ARR is great. He is the only one MD made magic trend!!!.
  
  All the new MD's will make their own hit. But it will be named as ARR's trend!!!!.
  
  But he will be out of the trend. Some body else will just grab it . This is called magic trend. In that way I really appreciate ARR equal to P.C.Sorcar.
