A.M.Rajah - the composer

Hi,

We all know AMR as the man with that most sweet and oh..so innocent a voice. But from what I have heard, AMR the composer was no less a talent.

Here are some of the fabuolous gems that he bestowed to us music lovers :

1. Then nilavu
- Paatu padava
- Nilavum malarum
- Chinna chinna kannile
- Malare malare theriyadho
etc

2. Kalyana parisu
- Thulladha manamum
- Unnai kanndu naan
- Kadhalile tholvi
- Vaadikai marandhadhum
etc

3. Vidivelli
- Koduthu paar
- Yenallum vazhvile
- Naan vazhndhadhum (GORGEOUS)
- Pannodu pirandhadhu
etc

4. Aadiperuku
- Thanimayile (the sad version - the AMR solo one of TF's finest sad songs)
- Kaveri oram
- Idhu dhaan ulagama
etc

All the finest of musicals.

  I think AM Raja at that time had a flavor of Rahman's type. I love the beat in his Chinna Chinna Kannilae, Paatu Paadava etc. His tunes were outstanding at that time. Surprised to learn his full potential was not recognized my the tamil film industry.

  Aadiperukku had another great song, 'puriyadhu, puriyadhu, vaazhkaiyin ragasiyam puriyadhu' sung by
  pbs
  and amr has set to music the film 'vidivelli' too.
  'koduthu paar paar undhan anbhai' a fast paced song sung by raja, ps, jikki and tiruchi loganathan.
  
  the best song from this film is: pannodu piranthathu raagam, kulapennodu piranthathu naanam, sung beautifully by his wife jikki and pbs.
  what a composition!
  
  and anbukkor anni was another film he composed music for.
