Is there NO replacement for the Melody King Dr.IR

Dear all,

IR is undoubtly the GREATEST melody Composer in TFM history, likes of the great MSV, KVM (the DON of carnatic), GKV,Raveendiren, all come several steps down the ladder!.

I feel VS was the best Melody composer after IR in the 90's, but now he is producing trashes with Udit Narayan.

When are we going to get an MD like IR?

  IR is the ocean do not swim just drown in it to understand what music basically is. He himself has said it is nothing but wind. onlyl people who are knowing music will quote this. Knowledge and knowing are different aspects keep in mind.

  C'mon mahes. It is the 100th time I am hearing "IR is ocean, IR is wind, IR is river, IR is this, IR is that.....". It is kinda boring to hear the same again and again, bcoz even though there are fanatics of other MDs here, they dont make such postings.
  
  Be more practical. Just wake up from IR syndrome and try to accept the fact that the IR now is NOT the IR in 80s.

  arrfan, IR will be always IR and no one else. In the 80s, he had a chance of rising to the levels of Mozart or Beethoven but he thought of sticking on to the South Indian border.

  I was after some serious discussion, with the excemption of few 'K' & 'L', the rest of you guys are degrading other artists, including IR, learn to appreciate talent!!!

  I think we are probably misunderstanding what thumburu is saying. A song has rhythm, melody and harmony parts. Melody making skill is the minimum thing one needs to be a MD. But for a song to be considered high quality all 3 components should exist harmoniously. There were good melodies from other MDs' even during IR's hey days.
  I am not sure I like VidyaSagar that much. I think he tries to include both IR and ARR's style in his music. Tune-wise IR , rhythm wise ARR. He also tries to do counterpoints like IR. But thinks dont seem to gel well together. ARR has much better success, as he follow his own way.
  There are lots of good melodies in recent movies by IR, including some soon forgotten movies like manasellam, karisal kAttu poove and himself singing a love song in kanna unai thEdugirEn.
