IR, ARR, and Ravindran

Hi guys. I am a hardcore IR fan, but on the side, I'm also a Ravindran fan. In listening to many of Ravindran's songs, I have found some remarkable similarity to ARR's and IR's songs-- running time of 6+ minutes, unique handling of various raagas, and great orchestrations. Thoughts? Comments?

  No, I don't believe so. I think Ravindran is Ravindran. I mean, he must copy some songs to some extent, but that's characteristic to all MDs, even greats like IR, MS Viswanathan, KV Mahadevan, Salil Chowdary, etc.

  1. Putham pudu olai varum(I thought it was IR coposition)
  2.Kaathal vandu oppikkavaa(sung by SJ and Mano)
  3. Kannukul nooru nilava(based on Simhendramadyamam /Shanmugapriya), I think.

  1. Unakkagave nan vazhgiren(sudha saveri by SJ)
  2. Ezhu swarangal (Malayalam version sung by KJY. The charam of this song is very tough to sing)

  mythila, Vedham Pudhithu is by Devendran, not Ravindran. Sorry.

  What I meant to say in my first posting is, it seems as though Ravindran is the interface between IR and ARR.

  I think vijayabhaskar and IR have similar style. Both of them give importance to harmony. They differ in their style of melodies only. But I have not heard that much of vijayabhaskar though (thanks to Sun TV, I am listening to more and more oldies).

  The "putham pudhu olai" was by Devendran.
  Ravindran is basically a Malayalam composer. He has rehashed some malayalam songs to tamil like "Paadi Azhaithaen.." and "Ezhu swarangale.." etc.
