Revisited this marvelous composition after about 5 years: http://www.thiraipaadal.com/tpplayer...2'&lang=en
Erettu Padinaaru from Raaja Raajathaan! The beginning of the song, all through the end of pallavi - can match the kickawesomeness of Ninnu Kori Varnam probably, in terms of the guitars and the fusion. Not that I dont like the song later - its a melodious composition. A beautiful bhageshree/sri ranjani like melody that probably deserved more appreciation. I dont know if this song was famous or not. The interludes explore the raaja in full splendour with amazing arrangements - typical raaja.
if I have one grudge against this song - it is Raaja's surprise that he DOES NOT come back to the groovy western arrangements - which he normally does. Raaja should have atleast done two versions of this song - one on western arrangements and one with indian arrangements.. you know.. like it is the norm these days to label "Desi Mix", "Radio Mix" etc., it would have been amazing. Stunning composition!

Baroque - Doorathil Naan Kanda i guess is the same raaga, melody and music is very much similar to Kanna Varuvaya from Manathil urudi vendum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCDvHVTnNbA

NEPV still takes most of my listening time, whatever albums I listen I keep coming back to NEPV. No album (except TIS) has been this addictive for me in recent times.
Been listening to Fire Star: Electro Synth compilation, the quality is god awesome (thanks Nerd for recommending it to buy). Oh baby, Pavala Malligai, Paattu Engey, Disco King are most played ones for me apart from the other extremely popular numbers like Valayosai, Ninnukori, Vikram, Punnagai Mannan themes.

baroque,
Aaha. Two outstanding number there. 'devanin kovil' and 'thirutherila varum'. Both of this property of being very melodious and at the same time touching your heart. 'devanin kovil' right from the beginning has that melancholic feel and when Chitra goes 'naan enna seiven deivame' you can feel her helplessness. Amazing tune. As for 'thirutheril', it sheer joy right from the guitar strumming which starts the song.

devanin koil - one of my all time favourites. It was introduced to me by violinvicky few years ago. I remember having a 30min discussion with him soon after he played this song for me at his place. That 2nd interlude is something which only Ilaiyaraaja can do! ofcourse, the whole song.
