No, no, no, Rajini never said IR is undercutting to drive out competition. I am saying Rajini's views contradict what Rahman has insinuated. How can the same composer be overpaid and also be undercharging to drive out competition? Doesn't make sense. Rajini's comment anyway seems to be founded in petty resentment rather than logic. To say somebody who toils in the field deserves more than somebody who sits in an AC office doesn't make sense at all; it's about the output and not the effort.

How come a informative, vibrant thread like this became so sick?
Why should one put down one music director to praise another? Why can't there be multiple music directors who are equally or variably good?
just wanted to share my thoughts on the kind of impact IR has had on so many people. I mean forget us fans , i don't think anyone has has such a huge impact on the entire film industry as much as IR has had. Think about it a director like Myskin wanted to come into films because of IR's songs and music. Every young director in Tamil today has been influenced by IR to a certain extent. So imagine the generations of people IR has impacted and continues to do so even today. That's really mind-boggling.
Also a quick observation on the topic of IR and humility. Do people who comment on so called IR's lack of humility, do they even know what it means? I mean i can give several examples of IR's humility towards his art and the past pioneers of Indian film music. Infact during a show in Dubai, when SPB was calling IR as one of the greatest composers, IR responded by reeling out names of several past music directors of both Hindi and Tamil and said he is nothing compared to them. I mean if this is not showing Humility then i don't know what is. This is coming from a genius composer who has achieved so much in his 30+ years and composed for 900 + movies. If people in the media think humility means giving nice interviews and giving politically correct answers to any question and talking about how one has done something special in his music, then IR definitely lacks in that. Everyone shows their humility differently. Some always respect the past and talk about it, while some like to focus just on the current and future and don't really want to bring up the past greats.
Sorry about the long rant. Just putting out my thoughts that's all.
