Vaayai Moodi Pesavum is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual directed by Balaji Mohan and starring Dulquer Salman and Nazriya Nazim. Music is by Sean Roldan who makes his debut in film music with this album.
Shut Up! Vaaya Moodu! Pesadhe!
Singers: Balaji Mohan, Sean Roldan
Lyrics: Balaji Mohan
The album begins with a track housing a funky feel and a foot tapping rhythm carrying a tinge of comic flavor and wit. The popular Tamil film dialogues at timely appearances add to the value of the track and the vocalists do a great job in making it an entertaining listen.
Kadhal Ara Onnu Vizundhuchu
Singers: Sean Roldan, Shakthisree Gopalan
Lyrics: Muthamil
Up next is a rock track well equipped with energetic singing by Sean Roldan and Shaktishree Gopalan. The power packed electric guitars are the lifeline of the track which features fantastic rhythm patterns. The bass work is exceptionally good and it is great to see Shaktishree Gopalan sing a peppy number. The guitar solo in the interlude is one of the highlights of this track.
Mr.Fix-It Theme
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
A refreshingly breezy instrumental arrives next with brilliant string sections and impactful violin by Chennai Strings. The presence of pan flute in between makes it even more enjoyable. The way in which the track launches itself to symphony mode is commendable.
Podhum Ini Nee Varundhadhe
Singers: Haricharan
Lyrics: Muthamil
The peppiness continues with a groovy track, featuring the soul of Mr.Fix-it, but laden with a fresh sounding guitar tone and Haricharan’s soothing voice. The track has a beautiful nostalgic feel blended with modern orchestration and a laid back chorus. The strings and harmonica blend wonderfully throughout the track thereby strengthening the nostalgic essence.
Udaigiren Udaigiren
Singers: Aalaap Raju
Lyrics: Madan Karky
A short track with mellifluous voice of Aalap Raju welcomes the listener next. The orchestration is quite laid back with mellowed strings which follow the lead quite gracefully. The lilting guitar makes sure that its presence is felt. A great guitar solo which arrives in the interlude is sheer beauty.
Beedhiya Kelappa - Jazz Theme
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
An interesting take on modern jazz with energetic percussions and lilting saxophone makes for a breezy listen despite the track carrying an air of tension. It is a challenge to include a full fledged jazz instrumental of international standards for a Tamil film album and the composer has to be commended for it.
The Sound of Silence - Dubstep Symphony
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
After a journey to a jazzy world, it is time to explore Western Classical Music with an eerie instrumental equipped with doses of electronic orchestration and string sections. The eeriness can be heard throughout its progress in the midst of a collage of techno sounds and rhythm sections.
Maatraparavai - The Song Bird of Change
Singers: Kalyani Nair, Pradeep
Lyrics: Madan Karky
The album enters its finale with a feel good track sung confidently by Kalyani Nair. The track is well laden with an optimistic string section and gripping rhythm. Praveen joins the feast with his soothing voice. The jazz styled drumming is engaging without overpowering the lead voices. The interludes are very much western classical and they have come out very well.
Verdict: A highly original and competent debut from Sean Roldan

Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanigalum (aka) Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum songs review
ORU KANNIYUM MOONU KALAVAANIGALUM SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Mar 06,2014
CAST AND CREW
1 of 2
Production: M.k Thamilarasu
Cast: Arulnidhi, Bindhu Madhavi
Direction: Chimbudevan
Screenplay: Chimbudevan
Story: Chimbudevan
Music: Natarajan Sankaran
Background score: Natarajan Sankaran
Cinematography: S.R.Kathir
Dialogues: Chimbudevan
Editing: Raja Mohammed
Art direction: T Muthuraj
Stunt choreography: Dhilip Subbarayan
Dance choreography: Dinesh
After Irumbukottai Murattu Singam, Chimbudevan comes back with yet another comedy. Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanigalum features Arulnithi, Bindu Madhavi, Ashrita Shetty and a long list of an ensemble cast. Music is by Natarajan Sankaran, for whom this is a follow up to his debut Moodar Koodam.
July Madham
Singers: Naresh Iyer
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
The elaborate arrangement of strings and the overall orchestration make for the composer’s scoring area. The melody is pretty and Naresh Iyer’s tender singing goes well with the soft backbeat.
Moonu Kodi
Singers: Chinna Ponnu, Manicka Vinayagam
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
High on adrenaline and relentless in pace, this folk tune is so fast that the vocals literally play catch-up with the percussions. The singers are tested and they rise to the occasion, Chinna Ponnu especially seems like she’s waiting for her turn again every time she finishes her verse. Interestingly Natarajan Sankaran underplays his big chorus and focuses more on the energetic verses.
Bachelor Enakke
Singers: Gana Bala, Premgi Amaren
Lyrics: Gana Bala
The rhythm that follows Premgi’s awkward announcement of the long film title is totally unexpected if you were awaiting some hip-hop. Natarajan Sankaran has plenty of solid hooks to go with the great groove but for some reason finds himself reluctant to make any one of them the signature tune of the track. Ultimately it’s Gana Bala who makes this number sound great, offering something new in this ‘Surangani’ styled gana.
Theme Thunder (Trance)
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
A very early 90s sounding Techno collage with a very unsophisticated and somewhat child-like hook begins the series of instrumentals that fill the second half of the album.
Theme Storm (Indian)
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
More intent and purpose shown in this next instrumental which sticks to the same tempo. The silly-sounding ad libs work better with the Indian percussions.
Theme Breeze (African)
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
The composer uses a set of generic African percussions and matches it to the main theme and does no more. After Moodar Koodam, instrumentals were seen as Natarajan Sankaran’s interest area and in that regard the set here is pretty underwhelming.
Theme Marriage
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
The album closer is the more intricately designed and executed instrumentals of the lot. The brief segue between the South Indian theme and the church choir is impressive.
Verdict: The album has its moments and good performances.

Cuckoo (aka) Cuckoo songs review
CUCKOO SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Feb 18,2014
CAST AND CREW
1 of 2
Production: Fox Star Studios
Cast: Dinesh, Malavika
Direction: Raju Murugan
Screenplay: Raju Murugan
Story: Raju Murugan
Music: Santhosh Narayan
Background score: Santhosh Narayan
Cinematography: PK Varma
Editing: Shanmugam Velusamy
Art direction: Ramalingam
Dance choreography: Sheriff
Lyrics: Yuga Bharathi
PRO: Nikkhil
Cuckoo is an upcoming film featuring ‘Attakathi’ Dinesh and Malavika and is directed by debutant Raja Murugan. Music for the film is by Santhosh Narayanan.
Manasula Soora Kaathey
Singers: Divya Ramani, RR
Lyrics: Yugabarathi
The opening passage that sounds like throwback to the classic Raja-era infact serves well as a good misdirection to the actual sound of the album – an alluring acoustic experience. With very complementing vocals from RR and Divya Ramani, the song organically unravels itself over an acoustic arrangement where the muted approach acts as the perfect foil for instrumental highlights such as the entry of the slide guitars and the cuckoos of the flute which heighten the sensory appeal.
Potta Pulla
Singers: RR
Lyrics: Yugabarathi
The song appears to possess the personality of a folk tune but is dressed up far too elegantly with a symphonic arrangement to distinguish its roots. RR’s singing adds to the immersive listening experience and so does the excellent flute segments, particularly during the outro.
Agasatha
Singers: Kalyani Nair, Pradeep Kumar
Lyrics: Yugabarathi
The consistency of the mesmeric sound continues as Kalyani’s freestyle singing makes for some fine counterpoints with the backing strings. The chorus is charming on its own but at its best when the vocals come together in harmony. Yugabarathi’s lyrics are equally admirable on this track.
Kalyanamam Kalyanam
Singers: Andony Dasan, Hema
Lyrics: Yugabarathi
Folk injected with traces of funk with the vivid synth and bass sound. While the nadhasawaram presents a celebratory side the track is largely quite somber in nature, and Santhosh Narayanan balances both moods quite deftly. Folks specialist Andony Dasan, stepping out of his comfort zone in places, is seen pushing his range and coming through with a strong performance.
Kodayila
Singers: Kalyani Nair, Pradeep Kumar, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi
Lyrics: Yugabarathi
With the magnificent chorus revealed early on, Santhosh Naraynan takes the listener through some enticing segments backed by emotional verses, before returning once again to Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s glorious passage of ‘Ponna janmathula senja thavamo’ towards the end. The ability to create such an aura with such few instruments certainly spells Santhosh at his very best.
Enda Mapla
Singers: Dhee, Gana Bala, Sathish
Lyrics: Gana Bala, RK Sundar
A jazz styled template for Gana Bala featuring some nifty piano work and clever backing vocals arrangement that fill up the spaces as Bala sings/speaks his way through. The cheeky lyrics in the second half of the tune featuring some of the popular songs are a fine use of wit, considering that the characters are blind.
Verdict: An alluring and immersive album.

DAMAAL DUMEEL SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Production: C J Jayakumar
Cast: Remya Nambeesan, Vaibhav
Direction: Shree
Screenplay: Shree
Story: Shree
Music: SS Thaman
Background score: SS Thaman
Cinematography: A M Edwin Sakay
Editing: Paramesh Krishna
Art direction: Arusamy
Singers: Andrea Jeremiah, Naveen Madhav, Remya Nambeesan, Shankar Mahadevan, SS Thaman, Usha Uthup
Lyrics: Karky, Karunakaran, Na Muthukumar, Thamarai
Damaal Dumeel is an upcoming thriller starring Vaibhav and Remya Nambeesan. Written and directed by Shree, the film has music by Thaman.
Dumeel
Singers: Usha Uthup
Lyrics: Karunakaran
The album kickstarts with a ‘Kalasala’-like vigor featuring a firecracker of a performance from the diva Usha Uthup. The electronica fills offer an interesting touch to an otherwise straight up kuthu song.
Pogadhae Pogadhae
Singers: Remya Nambeesan
Lyrics: Thamarai
Remya Nambeesan is back to flexing her vocal chords after her outing in Pandianadu’s ‘Fy fy’. While she possesses a clarity there’s distracting synth sound texturing her vocals. The orchestration is slightly underwhelming and the track feels like its missing something.
Saga Saga
Singers: Andrea Jeremiah, Naveen Madhav
Lyrics: Karky
The four to the floor dance beat restricts the track to run along repetitively with Andrea bringing about the dynamics to the melody. The introduction of the nadhaswaram halfway through the track and during the outro is a welcome feature of the song.
Odi Odi
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan
Lyrics: Na Muthukumar
A tune aimed to raise the pulses with its charging rhythm section and Shankar Mahadevan sounding a warning with his vocals. While instrumentally the track barely deviates from its focus, the strong lyrics struggle to flow with the melody.
Damaal Dumeel Theme
Singers: SS Thaman
Lyrics:
Thaman finally sounds his intent right with menacing guitar riffs that build up slowly to a pounding back beat.
Verdict: Flashes of Thaman's talent

Jigarthanda (aka) Jigarthanda songs review
JIGARTHANDA SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Mar 03,2014
CAST AND CREW
1 of 1
Production: Kathiresan
Cast: Lakshmi Menon, Siddharth
Direction: Karthik Subbaraj
Screenplay: Karthik Subbaraj
Story: Karthik Subbaraj
Background score: Santhosh Narayanan
Jigarthanda is an upcoming drama featuring Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon under the direction of Karthik Subbaraj. The film is a Santhosh Narayanan musical.
Kannamma
Singers: Antony Dassan, Rita
Lyrics: Muthamil
The vocal sample of Antony Dassan which greets you may be the first access point for the listener but it’s true signature highlight is hidden behind the vocal veils in the form of a terrific digital dressing that shows up during the vocal hook. A recall of the synth-pop from Soodhu Kavvum but more intricate and expansive this time around.
Ding Dong
Singers: Arun Raja, Mose
Lyrics: Arun Raja, Mose
Funky bass work from Naveen over a drum track that fits the groove loosely, adding to the unsettling motive of the track where even the piano notes wear a violent personality. Arun Raja’s Tamil verses are delivered straight from the gut, while Mose is fluent with his rhymes. Though not exactly catered for staple radio demands, it certainly is creatively conceptualized and executed with a level of craftsmanship.
Pandi Naatu Kodi
Singers: Antony Dassan
Lyrics: Antony Dassan
Again the booming low end of the bass is vivid and grabs your attention along with the rhythm section and the crazy horns. The way Antony Dassan’s buoyant vocals are arranged over this pot boiler of a tune gives the kuthu genre a fresh new twist.
Dhesayum Ezhandheney
Singers: Meenkashi Iyer, Santhosh Narayanan
Lyrics: Pradeep Kumar
After being subjected to a relentless creative assault by Santhosh Narayanan in the opening three tracks the listener is treated to a gorgeously arranged melody with cascading strings that fill your earspace. The composer is surely growing from strength to strength scoring such symphonic sections.
Baby
Singers: Santhosh Narayanan
Lyrics: Muthamil
A seriously funky jam with a cool snaky vocal melody, offering a great sing-along moment, that sounds borrowed from the classic era of Tamil film music but is now married to the swagger of celtic blues. Santhosh as a singer is admirably reckless within limits, and a special mention to the composer for throwing in a rare bass solo on this one.
Jigar
Singers: Pradeep Kumar
Lyrics: Pradeep Kumar
The build up is obvious early on with the haunting piano lines setting the mood. The simple scratchy beats feature only to offer the spawning electronic effects its rightful prominence. Pradeep Kumar ad-libs his way on key to count for the vocals. Mildly intriguing.
Thanda
Singers: Instrumental
Lyrics:
A sludgy slap bass line opens up to welcome some beautiful but ominous guitar work, combining with intermittent bursts of percussions to create an unnerving track which really calls out strong to be taken seriously.
Hoo Haa
Singers: Santhosh Narayanan, Sean Roldan
Lyrics:
A supremely enjoyable Morricone styled western spaghetti tune featuring some delightful whistling and neat acoustic string arrangement while the guitar solo is flashy at best.
Ottam
Singers: Santy's Jazz Band
Lyrics:
With its warm sound featuring harmonies and restrained musical showmanship, the jazz here is more Steely Dan than Coltrane or Davis. Opting to go for a more accessible jam like this over a freestyle display may well serve as a good introduction for those who might be interested in this genre. But it’s hard to fathom this sort of composition paired with the track title ‘Ottam’ !
Verdict: If you like to experience new sounds and musical ideas, Jigarthanda is for you !
