I completely agree with you. We are talking about the Golden globes and Oscars and not the Sun TV or Behindwoods Top 10.

In general awards are given for x% quality and y% hype. Even in BO it works

I think that only applies to awards given within India. Awards such as GGs & the Oscars are given based on quality & relevance of the score to the film.
