You guys need to be more specific ..too much of quoted quotes is throwing me off. I'd love to listen to that "Rahman piece in Raaja style". Yesterday, I was listening to Bombay and was enjoying the uyirE. Both my wife and mother-in-law commenting this is how Rahman got the critical acclaim/broke into the mainstream, which I completely agree with.
BTW, my wife quipped the padithuRai title theme is ninnai charanadainthEn.. sounds like that to me too. And is unna maadhiri kalyani based ?

Kiru, it was not a piece in Raaja style.it was a western classical piece and hence it feels like Raaja's style. It is from the BGM of Lagaan.
The title theme indeeds sounds very Raaja-ish and yes, it reminds us of Ninnai charandainthen (because of Panthuvaraali raagam usage).
Just 7 notes behold a beauty of life...

Very eagerly waiting for Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai....clippings looked good and the music sounded fresh. most importantly the recording quality was impressive as well. hope to hear some great music from raaja sir!!!
